"Breakthrough shot": VFX Supervising storyboard "Breakthrough shot": Green-screen shoot explanation
Our hero jumping off the ground and breaking through the glass, was achieved by stitching together three pieces of footage from two different set-ups with our actor.
For the first set-up, we had him on a 15 foot tall scissor lift; he ran off it, jumped and slammed into a crash mat with his shoulder.
In the second set-up, our actor was suspended by wires, 6 feet off the ground. He started in a fetal postion (his last position from slamming into the mat) and spread his arms and legs out and flailed them as if he was plummeting to his death.
I needed to stitch together two takes from the second set-up in order to have enough footage for our camera to pull out and show our hero falling in the extreme wide.
This is my favorite shot in the video, and think it was well worth the four days it took me to put together.
